Rivercity News – Sunday 29th May 2016

Hi Church!

It’s hard to drive forward when your eyes are fixed on the rear view mirror.

Perhaps it’s that season of my life – the 50’s – where I find myself reflecting upon the life that I have lived so far.
I realise there are many things I never asked for and a thousand more I never planned to happen.

Occasionally I find myself dwelling on things that I regret or situations that have left their mark on my soul.
Because of my personality, when my mind meanders like this, I find my days being robbed of happiness and fruitfulness.
Perhaps you can identify with me.

The worst thing about these days and these thoughts, is they shift my focus on to the past instead of the future.
My eyes become fixed on the road in the rear view mirror instead of the highway in front of me.
I can’t change what happened yesterday but I can influence what happens today and tomorrow.

Nikki’s message on Sunday was a powerful reminder to all of us.
We need to guard our heart because out of it flows the very issues that influence our future (Proverbs 4:23).

I don’t want my heart and mind to be cluttered with the debris of disappointments, regrets and missed opportunities.
I want my heart to be filled with love, faith and hope for the future.

I want my heart to overflow with good things (Psalm 45:1) Do you?

See you on Sunday

Gary and Nikki Rucci
Thanks for helping!
There was a great turnout last Saturday at the church’s working bee – so much was achieved (& de-cluttered!),
and we just wanted to say thanks to all who were able to come along and lend a hand.
We really appreciated each & everyone who could be a part of this team.
