Rivercity News – Sunday 26th June 2016

Hi Church!

We sincerely hope the storm on Sunday night didn’t affect you, your house or your business.

“All talk no action!” This is a popular saying in Australia. When we say this, either in jest or in contempt to anyone,
we are commenting on their big promises and many words but their lack of productivity and results.

Ecclesiastes 5:3 (NKJV) says ‘For a dream comes through much activity’
Other versions mention ‘through much effort’ and ‘through a multitude of business’.

Therefore for a vision to succeed and achieve results, it requires more than a vision statement,
a set of spoken values, verbal agreements and loud Amens! It requires action.

The text surrounding verse 3 adds greater meaning to this idea. Take a moment to read verses 1-6 of this chapter.
Immediately you will notice it teaches us not to speak too much, not to over-promise and not to make vows we can’t keep.

Over these last few months Nikki and I have shared some important messages with you about the future shape of our church.
These are mere words and nice thoughts unless we act upon their truth. We will never seen the fruit of these
Kingdom Values unless we embrace them as our own.

Jesus spoke about this in Matthew 7:24-27. We call it the Parable of the Two Builders. You know the story.
One man built his house on the sand and one built his house on the rock. Jesus explains the life lesson in the
parable to us for our benefit. Please note both builders heard the words spoken but only one obeyed what he heard.
The man with the house on a sure foundation (rock) not only listened, he took action.

So between Sundays are you taking action? During the week are you implementing the values?
From day to day are you making these truths your own?

Are you building greater levels of authenticity in your relationships? Are you sharing your faith in practical ways with others?
Are you seeking ways to develop a generous spirit? Have you stirred up your God-given passion and reconsider the
dreams He placed in your heart?

We have a great future together, but it will require everyone to take action!

Don’t forget this Sunday we have both morning and evening services with our friends Nick Resce and Nicholas Tsakis
from Melbourne. Both are outstanding prophets and pastors.

Men! Remember to sign up for the BBQ Breakfast on Saturday at 7:00am.

We’re also having a sausage sizzle before the 6pm service – come along & have some fellowship together.

See you on the weekend!

Pray for the Upcoming Federal Election
Regardless of political persuasion or party allegiance, we are commanded to pray
for those who lead our nation. Not to curse or pass judgement.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NKJV)
“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour”
